We're fans of the pulps here at Pick Three. Characters like The Shadow, Doc Savage, Buck Rogers, Conan the Barbarian, John Carter of Mars, and Tarzan. Authors like H.P. Lovecraft, Arthur Conan Doyle, Dashiell Hammett, and E.E. "Doc" Smith. Cheap wood pulp paper ushered in the heyday of pulp magazines and paperbacks, giving them their name, and us some of our favorite fiction.
Today, the advent of e-publishing promises to fuel another "pulp" revolution, knocking the cost of "printing" books for e-readers down to next to nothing. With production costs so low, we can publish the kind of books that won't show up on the New York Times best-seller list--but will sell enough to fans of pulp, over the long haul, to justify publishing them. Call it the Long Tail of Fu Manchu. Or perhaps Kindle the Conqueror.
Whatever you call it, we hope you like it.
